Kung Fu Leeuw

Jimmy (14) has been a dedicated Kung Fu practitioner since an early age and he hopes to soon be selected to train as part of a Chinese lion. Jimmy feels most at home at the Kung Fu school. For many years he has been studying under his shifu (Si = teacher, Fu = father), in whose practice hall the huge lion heads adorn the wall. Being a teenager, Jimmy is ashamed of his quiet father who is a 'loser' in his eyes, and his talkative mother, who run a vegan restaurant together. In addition, Jimmy likes to play the Kung Fu hero, which frequently gets him into trouble on the streets. To curb this, his shifu has given him a key to the Kung Fu school on one condition: Jimmy can come and practice as often as he likes as long as he never fights on the streets again. When a new student, Li Jié (15) impresses everyone except Jimmy with his high jumps and graceful Kung Fu movements, Jimmy becomes intensely jealous. At the Kung Fu school, Shifu starts selecting a new Lion Dance team. He chooses Laura as the leader of the rhythm section which directs the lion's movements. As expected, he selects Jimmy to dance in the lion... but he explicitly places Li Jié in front of Jimmy. Li Jié will move the head, and Jimmy will serve as base in the rear section. Jimmy reluctantly agrees, because he doesn't dare to contradict his master's wish. But to him it feels like his position has been usurped by Li Jié for good. Jimmy and Li Jié are given permission to perform for the opening of Li Jié's father's new premises, and they have trained hard for the show. The dance starts with great promise but ends in disaster when the lion's head falls onto a lavishly laid table and tears apart. Li Jié feels deeply ashamed for embarrassing his father and he accuses Jimmy of deliberately dropping the lion's head. The boys get into a terrible argument and in the ensuing fight Jimmy kicks Li Jié in the face. The kick is much harder than he intended and he breaks Li Jié's jaw. Jimmy flees, fearful and ashamed. He no longer dares to appear before his disappointed shifu, who has closed the school. In the loneliness that follows, Jimmy understands he can control his rage if he learns to express his true feelings instead of bottling them up. When Jimmy dares to confess his envy to Li Jié, this marks the beginning of a close friendship. A friendship that is close enough for Jimmy to take responsibility for his actions and admit to Li Jié's father that he broke his son's jaw. A friendship that allows Jimmy to accept Li Jié's help in doing what he fears most of all: meeting his disillusioned shifu again. They head for their shifu together with Laura and the other students. Once they appear before their surprised shifu, a lion comes to life. Inside the lion, Li Jié and Jimmy intuit each other perfectly, together they move as one. This lion dares to show its emotions and to dance, enabling Jimmy and Li Jié - encouraged by the cheers of the other students - to make their shifu laugh again. Kung Fu Lion is dedicated to all shifus.Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
